However bosses are saying that for the week commencing December 17 there will be a borough-wide black bin week, on the week commencing December 24 there will be no collections and that on the week commencing December 31 there will be a borough-wide black bin week.

Deputy Mayor, Councillor Cynthia Ransome, who is the Cabinet Member for Communities; Street Scene; Environmental Protection; Waste and Recycling, said: “We recognise that for many people Christmas means visitors, Christmas dinners, presents and extra waste in their black bins and so we have a number of additional black bin collection weeks over the holidays to help accommodate this extra waste.

“Much of our extra waste at Christmas can be recycled, so please remember to use your green box as well for things like cans, bottles and cardboard. Should you have more recycling than your box can hold, Household Waste Recycling Centres across Doncaster will open daily during the holiday season, except for 25 and 26 December and 1 January and residents can also make use of a number of recycling sites in locations such as supermarket car parks across the borough.”

Anyone who no longer has the bin collection calendar anew one can be downloaded from the web at www.doncaster.gov.uk/mydoncaster.
