Bishop to take to streets for a night

LATE-NIGHT revellers will come face-to-face with the Bishop of Doncaster this weekend after he announced plans to spend a night with the town’s street pastors.

Peter Burrows said he would join the group on Saturday evening until the early hours of Sunday morning as they look out and care for those enjoying Doncaster’s notorious night life.

The Bishop said: ”The Street Pastors do an amazing job, which is very much appreciated and valued by the police and those enjoying the clubs and bars in Doncaster.

“Late at night, young people can be vulnerable on the streets of our towns and cities and it’s good to know that there are people there to support them.”

Bishop Burrows said that next Monday he planned to be spending a day “back on the shop floor” at Doncaster-based furniture giant DFS.

He will spend some time both at its headquarters and then at the firm’s factory before visiting one of their major stores.

The Bishop said: “I’m looking forward to meeting workers and hearing what life is like, especially in the build-up to Christmas. It will, I’m sure, be an enlightening and informative day.”
