Bobbies on the tweet in initiative to highlight problems caused by alcohol
In an unprecedented move, the force is using the social networking site to highlight the issues officers face while policing people on nights out.
It is part of a national initiative by the Association of Chief Police Officers and will run alongside the ongoing ‘One Punch Can Kill’ campaign in West Yorkshire, to highlight the potentially fatal consequences of alcohol-related violence.

Hide AdInsp Dan Wood, from West Yorkshire Police’s local policing support, said: “Alcohol is a significant factor in a large number of incidents we deal with.
“As a force we devote substantial resources to preventing such incidents, responding to them when they occur and dealing with the aftermath of these alcohol-fuelled crimes and altercations.”
Tweets, using the hashtag #alcoholharm, will run from 10pm tonight into the early hours of tomorrow.
Insp Wood added: “We want everyone to be able to enjoy the pubs and clubs in the towns and cities of West Yorkshire, but would encourage people to consider how much alcohol they consume and what the consequences can be.”
