Boy, 10, airlifted to hospital after collision with lorry

The crash happened as the 10-year-old was riding a bicycle which collided with a white heavy goods vehicle on Rotherham Road at around 8.30am.

The collision happened close to the junction with John Street.

After the crash, the boy was airlifted to hospital, where police said he currently remains with suspected serious injuries.

The lorry driver was not injured.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward.
