Boy, 10, hit by car in Doncaster while cycling on crossing

A schoolboy was knocked down by a car while cycling across a pedestrian crossing in Doncaster.

The 10-year-old was riding across Sandringham Road, close to Sainsbury's, when he was hit by a car travelling from the direction of Town Moor Avenue.

Police said the driver of the car stopped to check the boy was okay and then drove off towards Tudor Road.

The boy was taken to Northern General Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

Now officers are seeking witnesses to the collision, which took place at around 5.35pm on Friday.

The car was described as dark blue or purple in colour.

Anyone who was in the area at the time, or saw the collision, is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 967 of 17 February.
