Brave teenager's brush with fame

A teenage art student who has cancer has fulfilled his dream to see his work exhibited, thanks to a wish-granting charity for seriously ill youngsters.

Daniel Barnett, 18, from Rotherham, was diagnosed with a Ewing's sarcoma tumour in his pelvis at the age of 14, but his condition has deteriorated to such a degree that he now has lung disease and kidney failure.

Despite chemotherapy and radiotherapy in Leeds and not being able to walk properly, Daniel passed nine GCSEs, achieved an A grade in art A level and is taking an art foundation course. Now, thanks to Rays of Sunshine, he was given the chance to see his artwork exhibited at Christie's in London. Daniel said: "I was completely taken aback and incredibly proud when I walked into Christie's and saw my work on display."
