Broadcaster to be chamber's guest

BROADCASTER and journalist Michael Crick will be the guest speaker at Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce's Annual Dinner.

After a year which saw huge convulsions surrounding MPs' expenses, the first Speaker of the House of Commons to be stripped of his office in 300 years and several plots to bring down the former Prime Minister, Newsnight's Political Editor will give a fascinating insight into what goes on in the corridors of power.

Following last year's sell-out Hollywood-themed dinner, this year the Chamber's Annual Dinner has a maritime theme in honour of Chamber President Captain Russ Garbutt's 40-year career in the British Merchant Navy.

The dinner will be held on Thursday February 10 at Willerby Manor Hotel, Hull. Michael Crick's broadcast credits also include Channel 4 News, Panorama and Have I Got News For You.

In the 2005 General Election The Guardian newspaper observed that the five most terrifying words to be found in the political lexicon were "Michael Crick is in reception".
