Nationwide, satisfaction rates were high, with 92 per cent of Brighton bus passengers happy with the service and other areas also achieving at least 90 per cent.

But those least satisfied were in South Yorkshire, Manchester and Stoke.

In South Yorkshire, more than a quarter of passengers were dissatisfied with the frequency of buses and 28 per cent were unhappy with value for money, the survey by Passenger Focus found.
