Calendar producers seek new images for the year ahead

Photographs are wanted for a calendar that celebrates the life and scenery of the Upper Colne Valley.

Organisers are now searching for images for the 2012 Marsden and Slaithwaite calendar. Entries, which must be in colour and landscape format, should illustrate the seasons, the life and countryside of the Upper Colne Valley.

This year, those organising the competition said they had record sales of the calendar which they believe was down to its quirky front cover, featuring a sheep on a roof top, which had to be rescued by a local farmer after being stranded there for a couple of hours.

Judges will select 13 scenes for the next calendar – one for the front cover and one image for each month.

The organisers say the winners will each receive a framed enlargement of their photograph and a calendar as well as seeing their image in print.

Printed photographs must be handed in to Marsden Library and Information Centre, located in Marsden Mechanics Hall, Peel Street, Marsden or Slaithwaite Library, Britannia Road, Slaithwaite.

The competition is open to anyone and the closing date is Saturday May 7.
