Cameron’s pig of a day: How the web reacted

The peer claims the Prime Minister took part in a bizarre initiation ritual for the club which involved him inserting “a private part of his anatomy” in the mouth of a dead pig.

Believed to be highly exclusive, the society is made up of 12 male undergraduates, and carries the motto: “Fane non memini ne audisse unum alterum ita dilixisse.”

Roughly translated, this means: “Truly, none remember hearing of a man enjoying another so much.”

The Independent reports the club is said to host wild parties which in the past have involved mass drug-taking and live sex shows.

According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, he was brought up at the court of Edward I as foster brother and playmate for his son Edward, the future king.

In early 1307 he was banished from England by the king, but returned after the death of Edward I a few months later, becoming the chief adviser of Edward II.

Piers Gaveston, the First Earl of Cornwall, died in 1312 at the hands of jealous barons.

Twitter had a field day as the revelation emerged, with contributors dubbing the episode pig-gate.

Dewsbury County Conservative Association said a scheduled pig racing fundraiser would go ahead next month, hours after the event appeared to have been cancelled on Facebook.
