Campaign aims to cut motorcycle accidents
Safer Ryedale is preparing to tackle the number of crashes on the region's roads as the summer months attract motorcyclists back onto the highways,
Officials say road safety has been identified as one of the top four priorities for the partnership and data illustrates that Ryedale has the fourth worst record of fatal road traffic collisions in Yorkshire.

Hide AdSafer Ryedale is stepping up its Safer Summer Wheels campaign – aimed mainly at motorcyclists – as part of the partnership initiative to reduce casualties.
The event, taking place on Sunday, July 4, at Helmsley Market Place from 10am until 4pm, will include a local motorcycle training school, Scarborough Rider Training, to answer questions about biking from novice to advanced levels.
There will also be stands with motorcycle dealers, the RAC
and other displays, and experts from North Yorkshire County Council Road Safety Officers, fire-fighters, local police and the ambulance service who will provide safety tips, leaflets and freebies.
Gail Snowden of the Safer Ryedale Partnership said: "We are committed to making Ryedale a safer place to live, work and visit and I would encourage people to visit us on the day, when there will be an opportunity to question those present, take advice on riding safely and to speak with like minded people."
