Campaigning: Hague goes into battle with Lib Dems

WILLIAM Hague was back on the campaign trail in Yorkshire as he took the fight to the Liberal Democrats after the second leaders' debate.

The Shadow Foreign Secretary, MP for Richmond, was campaigning in York Outer as well as Harrogate and Knaresborough, two constituencies where the Tories are facing the Lib Dems as their main rivals.

In Huntington he met shop owners and then canvassed voters with York Outer candidate Julian Sturdy before moving on to Selby and Ainsty, the top Tory target in the region to campaign with Nigel Adams.

He later headed to Harrogate – currently held by the Lib Dems and visited by Vince Cable earlier in the week – where he teamed up with candidate Andrew Jones.

The Tories hope they can take advantage of popular MP Phil Willis standing down to win the seat.

Mr Hague was upbeat after Thursday night's second leaders' debate in which David Cameron just came out top according to some of the instant polls published afterwards.
