Cancer victim inspires Run for All team

A WOMAN who raised money for charity while battling cancer has inspired her friends to run a 10k race in her memory.

Ilkley woman Kim Robson pounded the streets of Leeds in Jane Tomlinson's Run for All in 2008 while suffering from breast cancer and enduring sessions of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Her friends said she completed the 10k course despite pain and breathing problems.

Mrs Robson, who died in November last year, leaving a husband and two young children, has inspired six friends to compete as Team Robson in this year's Run for All.

Her friend Stephanie Millward, 43, of Ilkley, said: "We have been really inspired by Kim as a friend When she ran the race she was really poorly but got round the course. She was absolutely determined. I want to say how brave she was."

Team Robson are: Stephanie Millward, Simon Robson, Jackie Rowe, Sarah Foy, Christine Reilly and Emma Garry.

Most of them knew Mrs Robson through her rounders team or All Saints School in Ilkley where she worked.

The team is raising money for Bradford Marie Curie Hospice where she spent her final days.

A special Kim Robson rounders tournament and family fun day is taking place on May 22 at Ghyll Royd School, Burley-in-Wharfedale.

Before her death in 2007, Leeds woman Jane Tomlinson raised 1.85m through a series of physical challenges. This year's Run for All is taking place on Sunday, July 4. Details at www.runforall.com
