Cannabis seized in series of raids

CANNABIS plants with a street value of around £15,500 have been seized during a series of raids in Doncaster.

Although police officers had warrants to raid 10 addresses “suspected of drugs activity” in Carcroft, Bentley, Woodlands, Skellow and Adwick, not one arrest was made.

Properties on Rydal Road, Carcroft and Fourth Avenue in Woodlands were found to have a total of 29 mature cannabis plants, as well as drugs paraphernalia.

Other properties raided during the operation were in Poplar Road, Skellow, and Ashburton Close, Adwick.

Police community support officer Brett Cleaver from the Adwick safer neighbourhood team said: “Taking any amount of drugs off the streets will make it much safer for the local community and will hopefully reassure people that we will always take action to deal with any problems raised.

“We will continue to execute warrants and carry out raids to ensure the streets are made safer for our communities.”

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said that the drug raids were part of a “multi-agency project” to “tackle concerns raised by the local communities.”
