Officers from Calderdale Council's housing and environment service and the Government found Naylor had failed to keep cattle in a suitable environment, after they were found on land that was steep with numerous sheer drops.

Naylor also failed to provide adequate care for two animals that were lame.

In addition further investigations found Naylor had failed to remove the carcasses of dead cattle without undue delay and left the dead cattle in the same fields as live cattle.

Afterwards Mark Thompson, the council's head of housing and environment said: "The sentence passed reflects the seriousness of the lack of care shown by Mr Naylor to his cattle."
