Care firm to take on 200 staff in villages

A CARE company is providing a jobs boost for the East Riding.

Caremark (East Riding) has created 200 new jobs since opening in the area last summer and the firm has now launched a recruitment drive as it looks for another 200 staff.

Managers say positions for care and support workers are available across East Yorkshire with key locations including villages around Driffield, Market Weighton, Wetwang, Bridlington, Hornsea, Withernsea, Goole and Selby.

The company provides a range of home-based personal care and support services for older people and to people of all ages who have physical disabilities, learning disabilities or terminal illnesses.

The company is advertising the vacancies in village shops and Jobcentres.

Caremark’s East Riding director Karen Precious said: “We are experiencing increasing demand for our services and we urgently need people in rural areas who want to work in their own communities.

Positions are available for full-time and part-time staff and while experience in the care sector is useful it is by no means essential as we provide full training.

“What is important is that people have a caring nature.”

“All too often we hear about rural areas suffering from a lack of employment opportunities and we are very excited about being able to reverse that trend by providing well paid jobs with excellent prospects for promotion,” added Mrs Precious.

The firm has been accredited as a preferred supplier by East Riding Council and the employees provide a range of personal care and support services, from helping with washing and dressing to assistance with shopping, preparing light meals, domestic duties and companionship.

Mrs Precious said the company was now attracting customers who were taking advantage of a change in legislation that provides people with personal care budgets and the freedom to choose care providers.
