Cars and trains turn back clock

Classic car owner Martin Smith from Pickering with his 1952 Allard sports car as a Black Q6 63395 steams out of Pickering Station, shows how the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is bringing together iconic engines and motor vehicles to recall Britain's rail and road past.

The NYMR's Vintage Vehicle Weekend will include displays of historic vehicles at Levisham, Goathland and Grosmont stations. At Pickering, a heritage bus will provide free trips around the market town on both days.

Levisham station plays host to miniature traction engines, alongside displays of up to 40 historic motorcycles and cars. Goathland Station will play host to some 50 vehicles, including a 1933 Jaguar SS1 and an Austin 10 from the same era.
