Chance to have your say on the NHS

A MAJOR survey, devised by academics at the University of York, aims to give people a bigger say in the way the NHS is run.

Researchers in the University’s Department of Health Sciences will ask people in Leeds and Bradford on where they think the NHS should invest in new procedures, drugs and services.

The project is a joint initiative with Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and an NHS Research and Development scheme – the Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care for Leeds, York and Bradford.

The survey asks participants to make choices between groups of NHS innovations they think the NHS should invest in. They also have the chance to raise other issues. People can take part by going to http://tinyurl.com/surveyyork or receive a paper copy to fill in and return in a pre-paid envelope.

Prof Carl Thompson, at York, said: “Innovation is the only way the NHS will continue to meet the public’s NHS needs and expectations. We want the citizens of Leeds and Bradford to be involved in decisions about what innovations they believe their NHS should invest in most.”
