Charitable partner announced for Tour de Yorkshire

Three-year-old patient Josh McHugh, from Leeds, joined Yorkshire cycling legends Brian Robinson, the first British man to win a stage of the Tour de France and Malcolm Elliott, one of Britain’s most successful riders, to launch the partnership – which will benefit hundreds of thousands of children who travel from across the county and further afield for specialist treatment at The Children’s Hospital in Sheffield.

The Children’s Hospital Charity is working with event organiser, Welcome to Yorkshire, to bring some of the world’s top cycling teams back to the UK’s biggest county from May 1 to 3.

Rebecca Staden, fundraising manager at The Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “The Tour de Yorkshire is set to be a massive event for the county, and every penny raised through fundraising over the three days will help transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of poorly children. So we want as many people as possible to shout, scream and ROAR about our fantastic hospital and our county by joining the ROAR de Yorkshire. Whether you wear animal print to work in exchange for a donation, throw a Yorkshire pudding party or complete our ROAR de Yorkshire quiz, join the ROAR and help make it better for our children for generations to come.”

The Children’s Hospital is Yorkshire’s only standalone children’s hospital. Money raised through the Tour de Yorkshire will help fund a new hospital wing and equipment.
