Charities benefit from crime cash

North Yorkshire’s charities and voluntary organisations have been handed the latest wave of thousands of pounds in cash that has been seized from convicted criminals.

Altogether 14 organisations ranging from Scout groups to junior cricket clubs and garden schemes have been awarded a slice of the funding after North Yorkshire Police made £25,000 available earlier this year.

The money had been seized from criminals under the Proceeds of Crime Act by officers from the force’s financial investigation unit.
