China range to celebrate Queen’s diamond jubilee

The 60th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation has been marked by an official range of commemorative china.

Eight pieces, embellished with 22-carat gold, have been hand-crafted and feature a design inspired by the pomp and pageantry of the coronation procession.

The Queen acceded to the throne on February 6, 1952 and was crowned at Westminster Abbey the following year on June 2. Millions lined the procession route with some camping for two days to ensure a good vantage spot. They were rewarded by the sight of the Queen, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, travelling to and from the Abbey in the gold state coach.

The range, on sale now, has a red and gold colour scheme and includes a tankard (£39), coffee mug (£25), teacup and saucer (£55), pillbox (£29), side plate (£39) and a commemorative plate (£89). Made for the Royal Collection Trust, the china is produced in Stoke-on-Trent by the same potteries that made the wedding range for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
