City church to offer refuge from retailing

PLANS to redevelop an historic Georgian church will go on public view next week.

Holy Trinity Church in Boar Lane, Leeds is to undergo a refurbishment as part of the Trinity Leeds retail development which took its name.

Next Wednesday between 9am and 3pm, the church will be open for those who want to see the plans. They include the refurbishment of the interior of the church, a new heating system, together with improved lighting and sound systems.

The church hall will be adapted to have a kitchen, accessible toilets and offices.

The designs include a roof space running the length of the church intended as an attractive venue for banquets, seminars and conferences.

The tower room will feature a quiet area, available at all times for worship and reflection, giving those using the city centre and the new shops somewhere to find some peace,

A church spokesman said: “The church, once developed, will be available for worship, arts events, weddings, banquets, conferences, seminars – thus giving it a spiritual, artistic, community and commercial future.”
