Cocker scales the classical peaks to present Prokofiev

Chart star Jarvis Cocker is turning to classical music – as narrator of Prokofiev's Peter And The Wolf.

The singer, who recently announced he would reunite with Pulp for shows next summer, will perform with the Philharmonia Orchestra for performances at London's Royal Festival Hall next month.

Other noted rock stars who have performed the narrator role in the well-loved story have included David Bowie – and Gavin Friday released an album with artwork by his friend, U2's Bono.

Cocker has previously strayed into the spoken word with his recording of the classic monologue Albert And The Lion.

He said: "I love telling stories and this one has the added bonus of having a fantastic musical accompaniment."
