Around 600 employees from businesses across the region took part in this year's Corporate Challenge.

The figure is three times the number of previous years. They joined just over 7,000 runners who completed the city centre charity event which took place on July 4.

Prizes were also awarded yesterday to the companies coming in 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the events Team Challenge.

First place went to Bradford City Football club, second to stockbrokers Walker Crips Warriors and third to Leeds City College who entered a team of over 100 runners.

Mike Tomlinson, who is continuing the legacy left by his late wife Jane, said: "We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Corporate Challenge this year.

"The business community has always been behind the event but this year the number of corporate runners has been overwhelming.

"We hope that with their support the Leeds 10K will help to raise thousands for charities across the region."
