Concern as woman walking in Dales reported missing

Police said last night they were becoming increasingly concerned for a woman believed to have gone missing while walking in the Bolton Abbey area.

Susan Cowley, 47, was last seen on Saturday morning at her home in the Queensbury area of Bradford at around 10.30am.

Mrs Cowley is a keen walker and a spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said it was believed she may be in the Bolton Abbey area where officers yesterday focused their searches in conjunction with officers from North Yorkshire Police.

A police helicopter was also used to try to locate the missing woman as searches to find Mrs Cowley continued yesterday.

Yesterday motorists reported that a car park had been sealed off near Bolton Abbey and traffic was being redirected away from the immediate area.

Police said yesterday they are concerned for Mrs Cowley’s safety as she suffers from a medical condition and last night they appealed for Mrs Cowley or anyone who has seen her to contact Bradford South Police as soon as possible on 0845 6060606.

Mrs Cowley is white, about 5ft 7in and of medium build with shoulder-length brown hair.

Officers believe she was wearing jeans and a T-shirt and may have been carrying a grey Gellert back pack.

However police say it is also possible Mrs Cowley may now be wearing navy blue walking shoes and beige walking shorts.
