Council sees the light with savings
The move will save an estimated £1m and reducing the auth- ority’s carbon footprint by 5,600 tonnes.
The local authority is investing £214,000 on improved lighting to its buildings, saving 280 tonnes of carbon and over £53,000 each year – saving £1m over the next 20 years.

Hide AdThese will include LED lights, sensors and induction lighting installed at buildings including Lilacs Resources Centre, Baysgarth Leisure Centre, Ancholme Leisure Centre, The Angel in Brigg, Waters’ Edge visitor centre, Epworth Library and Quibell Park and crematorium.
Coun Rob Waltham, cabinet member for adult and children’s services at North Lincolnshire Council, said: “We are investing now to save money and energy in the future. The improvements will have a huge impact on our carbon footprint and over the next 20 years we will save over £1m and 5,600 tonnes of carbon. That’s a significant saving.”
He added: “This is a major step in the right direction to save energy and more importantly, fulfil our plans to save taxpayers money.”
