Council staff facing shake-up to cut costs

A council in Yorkshire is to press ahead with a shake-up of administration services to save money.

Calderdale Council's cabinet has agreed to move forward with a full review of administration and support services at the local authority.

Plans for the review include examining and streamlining processes wherever possible to make sure the potential for waste and duplication is removed, says the council.

Calderdale cabinet member, performance and resources Coun Peter Wardhaugh said: "It is always important that we look for ways to improve value for money but never more so than now, by creating more effective and efficient administration systems we can better support frontline services and the people of Calderdale.

"I want to make sure we deliver the review quickly and effectively, ensuring we use our employees' skills and experience in developing the findings."

The paper is also due for review by scrutiny panel members on August 26.

at better ways of working and we must look carefully at ways in which this can be achieved."

Earlier this month the Yorkshire Post reported that senior staff at Bradford Council are facing an uncertain future in a top-tier management shake-up to cut costs.

The local authority is in consultation with staff and unions over 37 senior management posts.
