Crackdown on drink-related crime

Since Op Sacred began in October last year, reports of drink-related violence has dropped by 44 per cent and antisocial behaviour by 54 per cent.

Five hundred and eighty one individual stop checks and searches have been conducted, 58 separate alcohol confiscations have been made and 32 arrests have taken place.

Public confidence has also improved with a 12 percent increase in the 12 months leading to January 2012.

Inspector Kevin Pickles of the City Ward Neighbourhood Policing Team said it is down to a concerted partnership approach:

“We have worked extremely hard alongside local partners such as Bradford Council...

“We are by no means complacent about these latest figures and are determined to drive them down further to improve the city centre for both businesses and residents.

“Analysis has helped us to identify where the problems have been occurring and to prepare plans with our partners to target the causes.”
