Crews battle house fire in York

Emergency services were called to Rawdon Avenue shortly after 5am, firefighters extinguishing the blaze and helping one person who was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The cause of the blaze is yet to be determined, investigating officers have said.

Fire crews had been called out to another house fire in Upsall last night, shortly after 6pm.

The fire, at a house on Cleveland Rein, had broken out in a bedroom, believed to be because of an electric heater being too close to the curtains.
