11 held after ‘illegal immigrants’ found in Sheffield lorry

Eleven people have been arrested by police after suspected illegal immigrants were found inside a lorry in Sheffield this morning.

Police were called to reports of suspicious activity on Europa Drive in Darnall, close to Centertainment, at 6.40am today.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “A number of individuals were found inside.

“Eleven people have been detained and are currently in custody.”

The spokesman said the police would not be releasing further details at this stage about the genders and ages of the people who have been arrested.
