31-year-old woman stabbed to death in Barnsley during lockdown

Police have confirmed that a young woman has been stabbed to death in Barnsley.

The 31-year-old, who has not been identified, was attacked on Windsor Crescent in Middlecliffe just before 5pm on Sunday.

She was pronounced dead when police arrived at the scene.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area today as officers continue to carry out enquiries.
