Arrest after pay-and-display machine break-in in North Yorkshire

A man has been arrested after a pay-and-display parking machine was broken into in North Yorkshire.

Police received a call from an eagle-eyed member of the public on Saturday night to say two men had been seen drilling into a machine at the Nuns Close car park on Hurgill Road, Richmond, just after 9pm.

The tip-off led to a car being stopped on the A63 in Selby later that night and a quantity of coins have since been recovered.

Detectives said a man was arrested and has been released while inquiries continue.
