Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Warren Stevenson, said: “This investigation is at an early stage and I am trying to find out exactly what happened.

“I would appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact police on 101.”

The landlord of the house, who lives in the neighbouring property and works on the land as a farmer, said it was rented by a “quiet” man who lived alone

He said: “I didn’t hear anything last night. Just the police turning up this morning and I was questioned about it.

“The body was of a woman, I think she was aged about 44 - but I don’t know her name.”

Forensic officers were at the property throughout Sunday, but later left the scene while a man.

A sole policeman stood guarding the small, white-coloured property, which stood in front of a kennels and cattery centre.

West Yorkshire Police are yet to confirm if a murder investigation is underway or what the man had been arrested on suspicion of.
