Banned driver jailed for driving stolen BMW into house during police chase

A BANNED driver crashed a BMW into the front room of a house during a high speed police chase after he stole the vehicle so he could go and buy a takeaway meal.

Mahmoon Hussain caused more then £20,000 worth of damage after the vehicle ended up in the living room of the property during the incident in Moortown, Leeds.

Hussain, who has a history of driving offences, took the car from the driveway of his car dealer brother’s home on January 15. Police officers indicated for Hussain to pull over after he was seen driving too fast through the Meanwood area of the city

The 24-year-old initially stopped but then switched the engine back on and sped off. He reached speeds of around 80mph in 30mph areas during the pursuit.Hussain lost control at the junction of Carr Manor Road and Stainbeck Road. The BMW ploughed through a fence and ended up embedded in the living room wall of a house on Stainbeck Road.The house owner was in bed at the time of the crash and escaped injury. Hussain was arrested in the garden. He told officers: “It’s my brother’s car. He will kill me.”

He was the subject of a community order for driving while disqualified at the time. Hussain, of Carr Manor Road, Leeds was jailed for 16 months after pleading guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.
