Captured on video: HGV driver overtakes van on level crossing near Hull

POLICE are trying to trace a lorry driver who overtook a van at speed on a level crossing near Hull.

The van driver was forced to stop on the crossing at Ulceby level crossing after the “potentially fatal” manoeuvre on January 5.

Pc Michelle Pidgen of British Transport Police said: “The driver of the van was forced to pull over and stop on the crossing after the HGV driver overtook him, at speed.

“We want to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened and appeal for the driver of the van and of the HGV to come forward.

“This was extremely dangerous driving that forced the person behind the wheel of the van to come to a stop on the level crossing. This could have had serious and potentially fatal consequences for both drivers. It is vital we trace the HGV and speak to the drivers involved.”
