Dad in court over ‘murder’ of son, 5, in Wakefield

A WAKEFIELD man was charged today with the murder of his five-year-old son.

34-year-old Pazeer Ahmed is accused of murdering Haroon Ahmed Bhatti, who was found dead at his home in the city earlier this week.

Ahmed appeared before Wakefield Magistrates’ Court today for a brief hearing. He was remanded in custody.

He was arrested at his home on Monday following the death of the boy.

Police were called after the ambulance service attended the house on Aberford Road.

A woman who has lived in the area for 36 years described the street as “quiet” and “residential”.

Ahmed was remanded in custody by chairman of the bench John Myers and was told he will appear again at Leeds Crown Court on Monday.
