Detectives investigate ‘unexplained’ death of York man

POLICE are appealing for information following the unexplained death of a man from York.

Officers were called to a property on Burton Green in York at around 6.50am this morning where 32-year-old Gary ‘Eddie’ Illingworth was found deceased.

North Yorkshire Police are treating his death as unexplained and are carrying out an investigation to determine how he died and the circumstances that led to his death.

The force said that as part of those enquiries, detectives are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard from Mr Illingworth between 11.45pm yesterday and 6.40am this morning.

Police also want to locate a bicycle that Mr Illingworth uses which is described as a silver coloured, ladies’ mountain bike.

Anyone who has found a discarded bike or know where the cycle is, is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 and ask for York Serious Crime Team.
