Driver arrested as man fight's for life after collision in Barnsley

A TEENAGER was arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving after a collision in Barnsley which left a 22-year-old pedestrian fighting for life in hospital.

Police said the 22-year-old man suffered severe head injuries after he was involved in a collision with a Peugeot 406 – which was pulling a single axle trailer – in Beever Street, Goldthorpe, just beore 7.30pm on Monday.

The man was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving offences. He remains in custody being questioned.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to call 101 quoting incident number 1158 of 29 February 2016.
