‘Easiest arrest of the year’ as police follow suspect’s footsteps through snow... in Sandal

The “early candidate for easiest arrest of the year” came after reports were made of a man trying car door handles in the appropriately-named Sandal area of Wakefield.

Writing on their Facebook page, Wakefield rural neighbourhood policing team said: “An early candidate for easiest arrest of the year...

“In the early hours of this morning officers responded to a call in Sandal to a male trying car door handles.

“A short walk following the footprints in the snow led them to a male who is now in police custody!”

West Yorkshire roads policing unit tweeted a picture of one of the footprints along with the warning: “Always lock your car before bed.”
