Family release image of 19-year-old killed in crash just days before Christmas

Police have named the 19-year-old who died in a crash in South Yorkshire just six days before Christmas.

Jake Birkinshaw was a passenger in a silver Ford Fiesta which was travelling along Hathersage Road in Dore when it was involved in a collision, South Yorkshire Police said.

The incident happened at around 10.15pm on December 19. Jake suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have released this photograph and asked for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time for them.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward, and are also asking for any motorists with dashcams who were travelling through the area at the time to contact them.
