Fears for force morale after poll response
A POLICE force has said it will do more to raise morale after less than five per cent of volunteers and 10 per cent of special constables responded to a staff survey.
Fewer than three per cent of respondents to the survey by Humberside Police said they “strongly agreed” that action would be taken as a result of the poll. The force, which must save £30m over four years, said it was conducted against the background of an “increasingly challenging operational and financial climate”.
Chief Constable Tim Hollis said: “Quite rightly, as well as highlighting the things that we are doing right, the survey results provided insights into areas where we need to improve.”
Neil Gammon, of Humberside Police Authority, said results were “encouraging in what are uncertain times” but conceded the low response rate was a concern.
