Former foster carer jailed for child sex offences dies in Armley prison five days after starting sentence

A former youth worker and foster carer from West Yorkshire has died in HMP Leeds five days after starting his sentence for sexual offences against children.

The offences were alleged to have been committed between 2009 and 2018.

He reported his own offences at a police station earlier this year.

Taylor was jailed for 14 years and nine months at Bradford Crown Court on Wednesday, August, 12.

A Prison Service spokesperson said: “HMP Leeds prisoner Robert Taylor died on 17 August and the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman has been informed.”
