House in Hull badly damaged in arson attack after burglary

A HOUSE in Hull was badly damaged in  an arson attack following a burglary.

Police said raiders stole a number of items including tools and two children’s bikes from a shed at behind a house on Betula Court in Hull at around 7am on Thursday March 7.

The shed was then set alight causing significant damage to the house and also to another shed in the garden which contained the home owner's dogs.

No-one was hurt in the incident and he dogs were not injured.

A Humberside Police spokesman said: "We are particularly keen to identify a man who was seen acting suspiciously hanging around the area near the property at the time of the fire. He was described as white, aged in his late 20’s, around 5ft tall and slim. He was wearing a grey coloured top, possibly a body warmer, with black trousers.

"Anyone who can help us identify this man or who can help with our investigation should call us on 101 quoting crime ref 2253501."
