Huddersfield woman hurt in midnight race attack

POLICE in Huddersfield are appealing for witnesses after a woman was racially abused and assaulted in the Milnsbridge area of the town early yesterday morning.

At half past midnight the 45-year old woman was walking along Lipscombe Road when she saw a small group of men and women arguing in the street.

A police spokesman said: “As the woman walked by the group, she asked two of the women involved in the argument if they were OK. The 45-year old was then racially abused by the group.

“As she carried on walking along Lipscombe Road, a dark coloured saloon car pulled up alongside her. A white man got out of the car and also racially abused the woman before punching and kicking her.

“He then drove off, leaving the 45-year old with facial injuries that required treatment.”

The victim described the man who assaulted her as white, slim, around 6’3”

tall and with dark-coloured shaved hair. He was driving a dark-coloured saloon car.
