Intruder confronts 88-year-old woman and steals cash from home in West Yorkshire

Police are hunting a man who confronted an 88-year-old Ripponden woman with a walking stick in her own home before stealing an amount of cash.

West Yorkshire Police have released an efit image of the suspect following the incident, which took place off Ripponden New Bank on Sunday July 10 at around 7.30pm.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

Detective Constable Helen Hird of Calderdale said: “This has clearly been a frightening experience for the victim coming across an intruder in her home. She bravely confronted him and disturbed his attempts to steal further property.

“Whilst taking place during the early evening, there will have been a number of people using the roads and paths in and around the area who may have seen the suspect before, or after the burglary. 

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area on Sunday evening and may have seen anyone matching the suspect’s description, or who can offer any information that may assist with our enquiries to come forward.”
