“It has come as a shock.”

Forensic officers were still at the scene yesterday and a white tent could be spotted at the back of the semi-detached property.

Councillor John Hardy (Farnley and Wortley, Lab) added: “It’s an isolated incident and it’s very
unusual for Wortley to have
things like this going on and it’s out of nature for the area completely.

“It’s absolutely out of character for the area.”

Police are continuing to appeal for information about the incident which happened on at around 5.30pm on Friday.

Detective Superintendent Simon Beldon said: “We are
working to build up a picture of what took place and are conducting a wide range of specialist
inquiries including a painstaking forensic search of the murder scene.

“We do wish to stress again we believe this was targeted and not a random attack.”
