Leeds driver stabbed in head as he sits in car

A MAN was stabbed and slashed in the head and body by attackers who smashed their way into his car as he sat behind the wheel.

The 31-year-old had just got into his vehicle, parked on a residential street in the West Park area of Leeds, when he was assaulted in daylight.

He managed to start the car and collided with a number of other vehicles as he tried to escape.

Police are now appealing for information.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the incident happened shortly after the man got into his car in Old Farm Drive at about 10.30am on Tuesday.

The spokesman said: “Three men approached the vehicle.

“One smashed the driver’s window and reached through, stabbing the victim.

“A second male opened the front passenger door and tried to pull the victim out.

“The victim tried to drive off and crashed into vehicles parked in front of his car and behind it.”

The gang drove off in a blue Vauxhall Corsa, which has not been traced.

The victim suffered puncture and slash wounds to the head and body and was treated at Leeds General Infirmary.

His injuries are not life-threatening.

It is unclear what weapon was used to carry out the attack, which police believe was targeted.
