Leeds Crown Court heard Robinson had been in a relationship with the victim for six months when he carried out the attack in February last year.

Carmel Pearson, prosecuting, said the couple had been out for a meal on the night of the incident.

Robinson had seen a friend of his ex-wife during the course of the evening and it had made him “morose”.

Robinson attacked his girlfriend when they returned to his home in Morley after she had asked him to stop talking about his ex wife.

Miss Pearson said Robinson attacked her from behind and kicked her repeatedly to the head when she fell to the floor.

The victim, who lapsed in an out of consciousness during the attack, was then dragged upstairs by Robinson.

Her hair and face were covered in blood from a cut to her head.

Robinson then pulled off her clothing and ripped off her underwear before continuing to drag her about the house.

He forced her into to the bath and told her to clean the blood from herself.

The victim begged Robinson to stop during her ordeal.

She got dressed before Robinson told her to leave and threw her out of his home “like a piece of trash.”

The woman contacted police and Robinson was arrested.

He pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The victim did not suffer any lasting physical injuries but has seen a psychologist who assessed her as suffering from post traumatic stress disorder as a result what Robinson had done.

Robinson was the subject of a suspended prison sentence at the time for attacking and threatening to kill his former wife.

He has previous convictions for headbutting female partners in attacks in 2005 and 2006.

Michael Miller, mitigating, said Robinson had been taking part in an anger management programme at the time of the attack which he had now completed.

He said the father-of-two had his own business and financial responsibilities for his children.

Judge James Spencer, QC, jailed Robinson for 143 weeks.

He said: “I can’t help but notice that you are a big man. You look to me well over 6ft.

“You are employed in a physically demanding occupation so you are strong. Big and strong yet you attack women.

The judge continued: “You carried out this prolonged attack. You knocked her down and you kicked her repeatedly about the head.

“When she started to bleed you dragged her up the stairs and ripped her clothes off and sluiced her down in the shower. It was humiliating.”
