Man charged after allegedly coughing on police and saying he had coronavirus

A 45-year-old man has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker after it is alleged he coughed on a police officer.

The incident happened when West Yorkshire Police attended a report of a disturbance in Sowerby Bridge.

While officers were there it is alleged the man coughed at a police officer, saying he had coronavirus.

Jason Roberts of Athol Garden, Ovenden, has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker.

He will appear at Leeds Magistrates Court this morning.
