Bush stood in the glass-fronted dock flanked by two security officers for the 15-minute hearing.

Wearing a navy blue T-shirt, he spoke to confirm his personal details and to indicate that he understood the charges.

His solicitor, Cedric Hennis, told the bench that Bush would not be indicating a plea at this stage.

Chairman of the bench Carmen Thompson told Bush they had decided to send the case to the Crown Court.

Bush is charged with one count under the Child Abduction Act 1984.

He is also charged with making off without paying for two hotel rooms in Melton Mowbray, avoiding payment of £60.
